Why did you choose to join ROCC?
AP: Working at ROCC combines two areas I’m genuinely passionate about – technology and social housing. Having worked in the housing sector for many years, I already knew the repairs processes well and had served many years in both IT and Project Management. It felt like a great opportunity to join a company where I could use my experience to help customers deliver better services to residents.Â
EGS: I chose to join ROCC because, as a customer working at LiveWest, it was the best experience I’d had working with a software provider. The team integrated themselves into our organisation so it never felt like a supplier-client relationship — we were all working towards the same goal. Having worked in social housing for nearly seven years, I also found that the most rewarding projects focused on repairs management, improving processes and moving teams away from spreadsheets toward effective systems, which is what this role focuses on.
GH: ROCC had a good reputation in the sector and has a real family feel to the organisation. I really liked the people I spoke to before being offered the position, so it wasn’t a decision I had to think long and hard about.Â
LC: I was really impressed with ROCC’s outlook and approach. They showed a passion for their customers and the wider social housing sector, with a genuine wish to keep improving and innovating. I was also excited by the opportunity to learn about this industry and all the various systems ROCC supports. The team was very supportive and welcoming, which made joining an easy decision.
What attracted you to the role, and motivated you to apply?Â
AP: The mix of project delivery, customer engagement and problem solving. I enjoy working closely with people, helping projects move forward and turning complex requirements into practical outcomes. The role also gave me the opportunity to move into a software-provider environment while still working in a sector I know well. I was sold on joining a company that provides solutions that actually work for customers, retains and values its staff, and where I can make an impact without just being a number in a larger organisation.Â
EGS: The responsibilities incorporated all the parts of my role that I enjoyed most, particularly improving repairs management processes and supporting teams through system changes. Repairs has always been the area I’ve been most interested in within social housing. Having worked closely with ROCC on a project also gave me a real insight into the people and culture within the organisation. That experience made the move feel like a natural next step and removed a lot of the uncertainty that can come with changing roles.
GH: The people. ROCC has the same values I do. My colleagues are supportive and patient when required. They are approachable, friendly, and happy to share their knowledge and experience.
LC: The role offered a great opportunity to learn new systems and practices with ROCC’s cloud infrastructure, web-based applications and data analysis tools, which are all things I am very interested in. Also, ROCC’s values and support of the social housing sector, including learning and development opportunities, made it the perfect next role for me.
How have you found the early stages of your career at ROCC?
AP: It’s been really positive so far. Everyone has been welcoming and supportive; there was a great induction process, and I’ve enjoyed getting to know both the team and the customers. I hit the ground running, with projects kicking off in my first few weeks, and the feedback from colleagues at ROCC has been amazing, motivating me to continue building the project management element of our service delivery.Â
EGS: It’s been a huge learning curve, but in a really positive way. I’ve enjoyed being able to get involved in such a wide variety of work from the start, including new products, consultancy requests, enhancements to existing systems and projects of all sizes. My team has been incredibly welcoming and supportive, which has made settling in and learning much easier. No two days are the same.
GH: Challenging. Although I’ve worked in the housing sector for over 20 years, doing everything from support to implementation, the ROCC suite of products is large and complex. I’m still getting to grips with it, as it wasn’t software I was familiar with previously. However, this is what makes the role exciting and rewarding.
LC: My colleagues have all been so supportive and welcoming. I have already got stuck into some projects and have been working extensively with our Focus dashboards, including extensive data analysis and design work. I have also really enjoyed getting to know our customers and systems, and have found it a very rewarding process.
What do you hope to achieve in your role?
AP: I want to build strong relationships with the internal teams and our customers, deliver successful projects and become someone people trust to keep things organised and moving forward. Long-term, I’d like to use my housing, IT and project experience to help improve customer outcomes and contribute to the continued growth and success of ROCC.
EGS: In the short term, I hope to become a dependable and valued member of the ROCC team, and someone our customers know they can rely on and enjoy working with. Longer term, I’m keeping an open mind because there are so many exciting projects and opportunities developing within the business. One of the things I’m enjoying about ROCC is the variety of work, so I’m looking forward to continuing to learn, building my experience and seeing where that journey takes me
GH: I want to be the go-to expert on all things ROCC-related and ensure our customers are put first, feel appreciated and are heard.
LC: I hope to continue my technical development and to always be relied upon by the team and customers to provide great support. I am excited by the opportunities at ROCC and looking forward to the years ahead.
Looking ahead to the future, what impact do you think ROCC can have on the future of the social housing sector?
AP: ROCC is well placed to help housing providers modernise services and improve the experience for both residents and staff. The sector is under increasing pressure to deliver more efficient, responsive and data-driven services, and technology plays a major role in this. ROCC can make a real difference by helping organisations streamline processes and ultimately deliver better outcomes for residents. Too many housing and repairs management software solutions are not evolving quickly enough to keep up with the customers’ requirements. ROCC is well placed to fill this gap and provide the required solutions.Â
EGS: I think ROCC can help housing providers deliver safer, more efficient repairs services for their customers. For me, it always comes back to the people living in those homes — they are not just assets; they are someone’s home, and that should always be at the centre of decision-making. By improving repairs management processes, increasing efficiency and adapting systems to support changing regulations such as Awaab’s Law, ROCC can help housing providers respond more effectively and ultimately improve outcomes for residents.
GH: ROCC has the opportunity to be the recognised market leader in this field, as it is innovative and responsive to customers’ needs. I think ROCC is one of the most caring companies I have worked for, and it seriously considers the needs of customers and employees.
LC: ROCC will have a huge beneficial impact on the social housing sector. Thanks to ROCC’s systems, which streamline processes with data-driven solutions and strong sector experience, housing providers can benefit from a significant reduction in administrative burden and deliver better, faster services to the people who need them.
