By Peter Luck, Managing Director, ROCC

At the start of this year, the leadership team at ROCC made a conscious decision to focus on increasing the company’s contributions to social value initiatives.

We have always taken our social values extremely seriously, but in light of recent economic and political challenges in the UK and overseas, the time seemed right to ramp up those efforts.

Across the business, we are very aware of the bigger picture and the positive impact all organisations can have on the world around us. That’s why, in new contracts with our partners, we have been ensuring funds are available to support good causes in their local areas. Plus, we have also boosted contributions to initiatives they are passionate about.

We believe that companies operating within sectors that work closely with local communities and public services have an obligation to prioritise their social value policies. In social housing, the decisions we make as businesses can really shape and improve people’s lives.

At ROCC, we have always championed the belief that strong communities create stronger organisations. We don’t view social value as just an added extra or a corporate responsibility exercise, but as something that’s deeply embedded in our culture and long-term vision.

This philosophy shapes the way the company works with customers, employees, charities and local partners.

The introduction of new contracts with dedicated social value commitments means communities can directly benefit from meaningful investment and support. Thanks to the hard work of our partners, more local charities and community groups are being backed at a time when it’s needed most.

Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model, we work closely with partners to identify the causes and projects that matter within each community. By listening to customers and understanding local priorities, we can support initiatives that have a genuine and lasting impact. This collaborative approach helps ensure that any social value activity is always relevant and beneficial.

As ROCC has continued to grow, our ability to expand social value contributions has grown alongside it. New partnerships and contracts have created additional opportunities to support local communities across the different regions we serve.

Importantly, our commitment to social value supports the wider goals of the housing and public service sectors. Communities today face a range of challenges, including financial pressures, social inequality and environmental concerns, which means businesses that actively contribute towards addressing these issues can play an important role in creating positive change.

Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to all of our partners who work alongside us in this endeavour.

Looking ahead, social value will remain a central part of ROCC’s identity and growth strategy. By increasing contributions to important causes this year and in 2027, ROCC will continue to strengthen its role as a responsible and community-focused business.

ROCC is always open to new partnerships that will help us make the world a better place. If you’re a charity or not-for-profit organisation, we’d love to look at ways to work together. Get in touch today.
