ROCC places a strong emphasis on supporting communities as part of our mission to improve lives and deliver value beyond housing technology. We believe we are all only as strong as the communities we build, which is why we always support good causes locally and around the country.

Community is especially important during the festive period. For many, Christmas can be a challenging time, whether that’s because of financial difficulties, loneliness, ill health or other practical issues.

That’s why, at ROCC, we ramp up our contributions to worthwhile causes this time of year.

We’re delighted to share that once again we are partnering with local charities this Christmas, so we can do our bit to support communities and bring people together.

Some of the charities we are supporting include:

  • Circus Starr: Brings all the fun of the circus to children with disabilities, families on low incomes, those facing challenges such as domestic violence, bereavement or who may be living with a life-limiting condition.
  • Demelza Charity: Supports children and young people who have serious or life-limiting conditions, so they receive the care and attention they need to live the most fulfilling life they can.
  • Porchlight: Helps people facing the devastating effects of homelessness, while also tackling the causes and consequences of poverty and inequality.

We have also committed to helping the following causes:

  • Wantage Community Larder: As part of our partnership with Sovereign Network Group, we are funding the entire running costs of the Wantage Community Larder in Oxfordshire for the whole of the Christmas period.
  • Lyde Green Community Association: Supporting the Christmas for Kids Campaign by providing toys for disadvantaged children up to the age of 16.
  • The Lunch Club: Providing raffle prizes, treats and gifts for people in the local community who are alone this Christmas with The Lunch Club in Streatham.

Peter Luck, Business and Operations Director, ROCC: “Our focus is always on people. Our mission is to support housing providers to deliver safe, well-maintained and secure homes to their tenants, but we do this while ensuring our own people are happy, looked after and living good lives.

“ROCC is like an extended family of people who care passionately about supporting each other and our partners. It’s only natural that this caring approach extends as far as possible into our local community and the communities of the partners we work with.

“Whenever I speak to someone, I always begin with ‘ROCC is different’ – and it really is. We do what we do because all of our people truly care. As we continue to grow, I’m very proud that we are sharing our success far and wide to help improve the lives of as many people as we can.”

Not only do we contribute to charities and good causes outside of the business, but this community-focused approach is also deeply embedded in the company’s culture and operations. Here’s how ROCC makes a difference.

Creating social value

ROCC actively contributes to the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the communities our clients serve. We do this by:

  • Supporting local supply chains by prioritising partnerships with community-based suppliers and small to medium enterprises. This ensures the economic benefits of projects stay within the local area.
  • Running apprenticeship programmes to provide meaningful career opportunities, especially for young people in underserved areas. Many of ROCC’s senior staff began their careers as apprentices, showcasing the company’s commitment to long-term professional growth.

Community engagement

ROCC engages directly with communities to deliver tailored support that meets their specific needs. This includes:

  • The ROCC Community Fund: A percentage of our annual profits are set aside to support local initiatives, charities and education programmes. These funds are directed towards projects that align with the needs of housing associations and their communities.
  • Educational workshops: Collaborating with community-based organisations to offer skills training for vulnerable populations, focusing on employability and IT skills.

Building sustainable futures

ROCC helps housing associations and their communities achieve long-term sustainability to build for a brighter future. We achieve this by:

  • Supporting decarbonisation efforts and net-zero initiatives through our technology, such as IoT-based monitoring for energy efficiency and damp prevention.
  • Offering features that enable housing providers to engage residents in sustainable practices and contribute to the fight against climate change.

Strengthening client relationships

By directly supporting the communities served by our housing association clients, we’re also able to strengthen the overall partnership between them. This involves:

  • Community-focused activities to enhance the reputation of both ROCC and our clients.
  • Aligning with the social goals of housing associations to foster a deeper, more meaningful collaboration.

Embedding social responsibility

Social responsibility is intrinsic to ROCC’s business strategy and we take our values very seriously. This approach ensures:

  • A holistic impact, where technological solutions are not just about efficiency but also about enriching lives.
  • Demonstrable contributions to social, economic and environmental goals, aligning with government and housing sector priorities.

ROCC’s commitment to supporting communities creates a ripple effect – empowering individuals and building stronger relationships between housing providers and their residents.

This core philosophy differentiates ROCC in the housing technology market, as we not only care for our customers and want the best for them, but we also care for our local communities and the planet we all inhabit.

Together, we are stronger this Christmas – and in the future!

We are always looking for new, meaningful partnerships to help make the world around us a better place. If you’re a charity or not-for-profit association, we’d love to explore ways we can work together. Get in touch here.
