Halo supports Wincanton Sports Centre
ITWincanton Community Sports Centre is a Leisure Trust
providing recreational services on behalf of South Somerset District
Council. The sports centre is managed by Barry Taylor. Recently the
organisation has struggled to provide sufficient time resources to
maintain a reliable IT system in-house.
To resolve this problem they have accepted an offer to provide a
fully-managed IT service from Halo Leisure Trust, based 100 miles
away in Herefordshire.
Led by Jon Argent, Halo’s IT infrastructure employs broadband
networking and ‘Thin Client’ technology and support from ROCC, which
allows the organisation to provide IT services virtually anywhere in
the country. The 3-year contract will provide new desktop hardware
all supported and managed from Hereford. Both organisations use the
Gladstone MRM Leisure Management software, which is particularly
easy to deploy in this way.
The significance of this arrangement is that it allows a small
organisation like Wincanton to play to its strengths in providing
leisure services sensitive to local conditions while enjoying a
first-class IT provision that takes advantage of the economies of
scale available to the larger organisation. Halo’s greater
experience in developing and using specific software applications
will also be an asset to the Wincanton Team.
