History of ROCC

In 1976 the UK Rediffusion Group formed a computer company, Redifon Computers, to manufacture and sell minicomputers for data capture. The company subsequently expanded the product range to include scanning systems, networked distributed processing systems and, from 1980 onwards, innovative videotex systems. Michael Aldrich had invented online shopping in 1979 using videotex technology.

In 1984 the company was sold to a team led by Michael Aldrich who had joined the Board in 1977. He subsequently bought out the other shareholders. Michael Aldrich retired to become Non-Executive Chairman in 2000.

The company has been involved in many high profile projects and has become known for its innovations with projects such as the maintenance and logistics systems for the Siberian Gas Pipeline (1981/1982) and many UK government projects including Cattle Passports following the BSE crisis (1998).

Since 2000 ROCC has been run by a talented and experienced management team led by Luke Aldrich CEO. ROCC has continued to change, divesting its engineering business and acquiring specialist companies with unique technology and service offerings.

ROCC today is an innovative technology company conceiving, designing and selling complex software, consultancy and services solutions to the Public and Private Sectors throughout the UK and Europe.
